Parquet finished with gloss lacquer, reflecting the windows

Lacquering and oiling

The finish decides how the floor looks and how it copes with everyday use. We choose it together.

Lacquer forms a hard protective layer on the surface that resists wear and is easy to clean. Depending on the look you want, we choose matt, satin or gloss. Lacquer goes on in several coats, with a light sanding between them.

Oil soaks into the wood, brings out the grain and leaves the surface natural to the touch. Oiled floors need a little more care, but worn areas can be refreshed locally without sanding the whole floor.

What we pay attention to

01

Lacquer or oil

Lacquer suits rooms with a lot of foot traffic and people who want a floor that is easy to clean. Oil is for those who love the natural look and feel of wood.

02

Several coats

A finish only lasts if it is applied thick enough. That is why we apply it in several thin coats with a light sanding in between.

03

Curing

After the last coat the floor needs some time for the finish to harden. When you can walk on it and when the furniture can go back, we tell you when we finish.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which is better, lacquer or oil?

Both have advantages. Lacquer is more resistant and easier to clean, oil gives a more natural look and allows local repairs. The choice depends on the room, how you use it and your taste.

When can the furniture go back after lacquering?

You can usually walk carefully on a lacquered floor the next day, but it is better to wait a few days before bringing back heavy furniture and rugs, until the lacquer has fully hardened. The exact time depends on the product, so we tell you when we finish.

How do I look after a lacquered or oiled floor?

Vacuum regularly and wipe with a well wrung cloth, never with lots of water. Put felt pads under chair and table legs. For oiled floors, use cleaning products made for oiled surfaces.
